Training

Training for JAA and CAA Qualifications

Caseright Aviation Training is a flight training facility and offers programs for the JAA PPL, including IMC and Night Qualifications, and Differences Training (especially for ‘glass’ electronic flight instrument systems, VP propellers and turbo-charged engines) for Cirrus aircraft operations. Caseright Aviation Training has qualified JAA Flight Examiners on staff for Class Ratings, IMC Ratings and Private Pilot Licences.

Training for FAA Qualifications

Caseright Aviation Training can deliver training for FAA qualifications – pilot certificates and ratings, including Instrument Ratings. We have staff qualified under both JAA and FAA regulations to conduct training for FAA qualifications in UK airspace. We are also accepted as Providers of Flight Training under the Alien Flight School Program of the US Department of Homeland Security.

Caseright Aviation Training can give the Periodic Review required under Part 61.56 of FARs (the BFR) and Instrument Proficiency Checks. Caseright Aviation Training can also provide the FAA High Performance Endorsement required for operators of the SR22.

Recurrent Proficiency Program for Cirrus Pilots

Caseright Aviation Training has designed its Recurrent Proficiency Program especially for Cirrus Pilots. This program helps keep pilots at a high level of flying skill and knowledgeable about their flying environment.

Involvement in the program requires that pilots make themselves available, ideally, for one day every six months. However, this is a program tailor-made to each participant’s needs and we will work with you to schedule our program to suit your availability. The program can be carried out using your aircraft or ours and at your local base or our Turweston location.

Each one-day session includes approximately two hours of flying, to include manoeuvres, take off and landing, use of automation, and emergencies, especially automation failures. The work of the session is designed around scenario-based presentations. The one-day session also takes in a review of changes in law, Cirrus developments, and recent accident and safety issues. The session is conducted in a fashion aimed at maximising the safety benefit, and we believe it is best delivered in a relaxed, cooperative atmosphere. For real advantage to participants, it must be pleasurable for them.

During the allocated day there will be the opportunity for pilots to undertake renewal of qualifications which need periodic checks – such as BFR, IPC, LPC, IMC Ratings.

Support and Buddy Program

This program is aimed at expanding the participant’s experience, by mentoring, to help him feel comfortable in specialised areas of Cirrus flying. The topics include airways operations, joining airways from uncontrolled airfields, VFR cross-channel checkout, crossing the London or Manchester TMA, VFR or IFR to the Netherlands, proficiency in GPS approaches, etc. We can design a program to address your individual needs.

Normally the participant would use his own aircraft, but an aircraft provided by Caseright Aviation Training could be used if required.

The format for the program is:

1 – Briefing: legislation, paperwork, planning, sources of information, equipment needed

2 – Practical: flying the task with the participant as P1 and the instructor as supernumerary

3 – Follow-up: advice on carrying out the task solo and provision of telephone support

Pilot Assistant Service

Cirrus pilots who would like to have just a little extra support while flying can have one of our experienced, company pilots accompany them as their pilot assistant. The pilot assistant is not there as an instructor but can help with advice, hints and tips, and practical things such as flight planning, navigation and radio telephony. He can help qualified pilots make the transition to become fully experienced and confident pilots.

Flying Partner’s Course

This course is designed for regular passengers who would like a basic understanding and familiarity with flying to enhance their pleasure in flying. It will also enable them to provide practical help to the pilot and give an additional level of security and safety. The course is conducted with the client sitting in the right-hand seat, but be warned, sometimes right-seat passengers gravitate to becoming left-seat pilots!
